Meeting up with a best friend in Chicago!
April 19, 2008
I could not bounce around America without stopping to see one of my best friends in the entire world, the honourable Ms Madisson. To everyone she meets, she casts a spell with her wonderful personality, Iv never met such a kind and caring person as Madisson. She came to England 3 years ago to study for a year at my school, 2 years earlier her Mom had unexpectedly died and her dad had gone off the rails and she raised her brother and still managed to do really well at school. Shes an inspiration to me, so anyways we became great friends over the year of studying together from messing around in law class to celebrating our birthdays together. She left to go back to the US in June 2006 so it was the first time id seen her in almost 2 years and i was so incredibly excited and anxious to see her! I left San Diego at 6.
30am on a United flight to O'Hare, my friend Ana had dropped me off at the airport about 5am and i checked in and went through security, i needed a new book to read, iv read so many on this trip, this really nice lady told me about this book she just read called 'THE RUINS' by Scott Smith and she said it really scared her and i love scary books so i bought it to read on the plane, by the time the plane landed in Chicago id read well over half of it, i also saw adverts for the film version , i didnt know there was a film out so i wanna see that now. I waited about 2 hours for Madisson as the CTA was being so slow but she managed to get there in the end and she didnt see me and i walked right past her and coughed really loudly and she turned round and screamed 'Dan!!!' and we hugged for like a minute non stop! she looked so well and she is just adorable.
Jill, Maddy's friend came with aswell so we bundled onto the train and had to stop off somewhere and catch a bus and then another train to get to where we were staying. We went into Chicago to show the tourist around and had some great pizza at Lou something or the other's and went back to 'the residence' with lots of other college students and got a little inebriated lets call it that for now..anyways me and Madisson were sloshed and decieded to cool off a bit at 2.30am in the stifling heat of our room by having a water fight of course and we dissolved into hysterical giggling as we chased each other, me in my skimpy boxers and she in her nightie running around as we scooped water from the sink and we didnt even wake our roommate ! Me and Maddy collapsed on the bed and fell asleep about 3am soaking wet and still laughing. Maddy is a friend who understands me, im quite a complex person but she gets me and i get her, we both think on the same level and i know our friendship is going to last for life. Maddy travels to Uganda for 3 months in less than 4 weeks to work at an orphanage, i nearly wrote an oprahnage then! The 2 days I spent with Maddy were a highlight of the trip, there was no one id rather see Chicago with than her :)
