The Escape, hey I escaped here last year!
Me, Jen, Lynn and Emmy arranged to go to the gay youth dance club The Escape on this night, Jen is one of Emmy's best friends and is also a really good friend of me she is the most adorable lesbian i have ever met she is also so funny and just a really sweet person, Lynn is Emmy's boyfriend and is a quiet guy but hes really cool and laidback and we get on well. Id been one year earlier for my birthday and id really enjoyed the techno music and dancing, there were the tallest drag queens iv ever seen in my life there and everyone was so fun and we all just had a beasty time!
Its usually best to arrive here late as its a bit boring if you get there early so we were all fashionably late. The cover charge is $10 and you have to get frisked and you also get a stamp on your hand usually which says GAY in rainbow colours and its a bit of a pain as it got on the cuff of my shirt and still wont wash out now!
It made me laugh aswell that Lynn had 'GAY' stamped on his hand, bless him hes so sweet. We arrived around 10ish and it took us a while to find a parking space in Portland, the year before when we'd all gone we forgot it was the carnival that night and traffic was horrendous, we were in a jam for over 2 hours so we wanted to avoid that this time around, theres also a $1 charge to keep your jacket in the cloakroom, although you wont need a jacket in the club as it gets wickedly hot!
We stayed at The Escape until about 1am, i got to dance with a total hottie aswell which made me a very happy boy. This place is the best, i cant wait to go back again. I couldnt come to Portland and not go to the Escape, its a beast! Me and Emmy refused to use the restrooms there as they are kinda yucky so by the time we all left me and Em were busting to go so we had to run through Portland in the freezing cold to the car and Lynn drove us through Portland as quick as possible, Emmy has the keys to the store where she works so we all ran in there and used the bathroom there it was so funny we were screaming we had to pee so bad! Thank god they were there thats all i can say!
Portland is one of my favourite cities in America! we all went back to Emmys and watched some tv and ate cold pizza and then i went to bed as I was still jet lagged but id had a really fun night at The Escape, btw they have their own myspace page which is good to check out if you're interested!
