Today the girls and I went to Taman Indonesia, an small animal park which started out with birds only. As the name suggests it has an Indonesian theme, and this weekend they had organised a few extra activities as well which made it more fun. There were market stalls selling Indonesian wares, there were dance and music performances and of course Indonesian food!
We arrived in the morning when the weather was still quite good and walked around the park looking at all the animals first. There were lots of different bird species and they have built large cages you can walk through so you can get up close and personal with them. There were also some other animals like Wallibies and otters. There are also some authentic buildings which have been brought over from Indonesia and rebuilt here.
After our walk around the park we had a look inside the cafe and then had some Indonesian food. Nasi Rames for me and bami with prawn crackers for the girls. After lunch the girls played in the playground for a bit until it started to drizzle. The kids didn't really care though and Reagan had made a friend so they kept on playing while I had a look at some of the stalls that were there.
There was a performance of a Balinese dance which we watched and then Jordan decided that she wanted to see all the animals again so I walked around with her again. We actually saw some animals that we didn't see the first time around as they had been hiding in their night cages so that was fun. Reagan stayed with her newfound friend so unfortunately she missed it!
After the second time around the park it really started to rain heavily so I decided it was time to go home...
