Picknick (Dutch spelling) in the Park was organised today for the very first time in Meppel. It is a cultural happening with live music, theater and circus. There were several small stages and tents along the banks of the river "De Reest". Of course there was food and drinks available. It started at 13.00 (1pm) and finished at 19.00 (7pm) approx. Entry was free.
Reagan, Jordan and I finally left the house around 2.30pm and rode our bikes to the park. Of course we can't visit the park without feeding the ducks so that was first on the agenda. From there we walked to the location of the festivities.
First thing the girls saw was the jumping castle. While they were jumping around on that I had a bit of a look around the grounds. I must admit I was a bit disappointed at first as it didn't seem very big. In the end though that doesn't really matter as long as the organisation is good, the music and other artists were fun to look at or listen to and the weather was dry at least. This was the case for everything, it actually became quite warm and I also ran into a lot of friends so it was a great time to spend the afternoon! Next year though I will have to remember to bring my picnic basket because even though the food was good and affordable, I would have been able to stay until the end if I had brought my own stuff for the kids at least. There wasn't that much on offer for them apart from ice lollies and Frankfurters on a bun.
