Reagan and Jordan at the market

Today started really early as the girls and I had decided to participate in the Kinderrommelmarkt. Basically this is an opportunity to sell any junk you may have. As we have a lot of junk (and some nice stuff that we don't need anymore) we thought we might as well try to make some money to supplement our holiday fund. So we got up quite early and finished loading up the car so we could drive it around the corner (literally) to find a good spot. As the girls started to lay out the first load I drove back home to load up the car again. We ended up with a really good spot and we ready to go around 8am. The markets didn't ofiicially start until 10am but apparently we had to be there this early to get a prime spot. And believe it or not, people were out this early on a national holiday to see what junk they could buy! The day didn't start very warm but it got warmer and warmer and we ended up going home in turns to change into some cooler clothes.

While sitting there waiting for people to buy stuff we also chatted to our neighbours and the girls had a look at the Kid's Circus (Kindercircus Okidoki) who were performing in the street. We finally left around 1pm and went home to have some lunch and to count how much we made. Turned out we had been sitting there for 6 hours and made 56 euro and a bit, so less than 10 euro per hour. Still, not bad for just sitting in the sun!

After lunch we went into town to see what else was happening. This was about the time we heard what had happened in Apeldoorn (I'm sure everyone knows by now?) so we weren't surprised to see that the city wasn't as busy as it normally would have been.

A lot of people didn't really feel like celebrating anymore... We did see some performances though and walked around for about an hour orso. I then got the kids in the car to drop them off at their babysitters as agreed, so I could go out that evening.

I wanted to go to Beattrix, which is a music festival which is held every year on the Queen's birthday. Normally there is a big tent with a stage inside and food and drinks of course. Unfortunately all outdoor activities were cancelled after 6pm so the band I really wanted to see (Tora Bora, which consists of a lot of friends of mine) had to play indoors. As not as many people could fit inside it wasn't the same but it was still a good performance.

After that we went outside and had a few more drinks and then moved onto Clouso, which is our "local". Had fun there but was quite exhausted by that stage so I went home around 9.30pm I think and was in bed not much later than that...
