Today was the second day of the Grachtenfestival in Meppel. This is an event that is held every year and attracts a lot of ships to Meppel. Meppel is a town which used to have a lot of waterways and even though a lot of them have been closed and turned into roads there are still plenty left! They have even started opening up some of the waterways again to bring back the old characte of the town.
Today was a great day for the festival as the weather was just gorgeous. Not too hot, around 21 degrees, but plenty of sun. There was lots of activities to participate in but also music to enjoy, stalls selling all sorts of stuff to look at and plenty of food and drink to keep your belly full!
We walked around and had a look at the ships which were all around the city centre waterways.
We decided to have lunch at The Peppermill, which is a restaurant situated in the city centre, in the main square. From their terrace you have a great vantage point on everything that goes on. The food was nice, the sun was shining, what more could you ask for?
I will write a review on The Peppermill at a later date, as they are moving soon I didn't want to do it now and have to change all the details in a few weeks time!
