The Jokhang Monastery, located in downtown Lhasa, is a Buddhist hall for Tibetan Buddhists and a symbol of unity between the Tibetan and Han peoples. The Hall of Sakyamuni is the most important in the monastery. It enshrines a statue of Sakyamuni, which Tang Dynasty Princess Wencheng brought to Lhasa. The city is called Lhasa, meaning "holy land," because of the statue's presence. The statue attracts an endless flow of worshippers every day. Around the Hall of Sakyamuni are eight low-lying, dark halls where butter lamps flicker in front of Buddha images. That day looked like a festival when we visited. A lot of worship people were gathering in front of the gate. Some of them came out of their home half year ago, because they use a traditional worship way- kowtow to come here. Whole body bended over the earth. Enter the temple, only one way you can walk, it’s clockwise direction. All the people were holding the butter jug and butter light enter to do worship. The best impression to me is their devotional face. All though their life is poor, but I believe their spirit is rich!
