Barcelona's airport
Today I woke up really early - 4am!!!! The taxi would come for us in order to drive us to the airport at 5am. So, I asked for a really early wake up call. I had to finish packing, take a shower and do the check out. It was too early to have breakfast, but at least, I got a cup of good fresh coffee.
Ivan, the taxi driver who drove us from Barcelona the day before, arrived on time to take us back to Barcelona. Because all the things were so informal, Blair was afraid Ivan wouldn’t show up. Well, I have to be honest. I was a bit concerned too, but didn’t show it, hehehe. The highway was almost empty, so we arrived with plenty of time to the airport. It was a small airport, so it was really easy to check in. We had still free time, so Blair had something for breakfast and I found a small kiosk with souvenirs and… a Magnet, hahaha.
We waited for our flight and left Barcelona around 7am. The flight was ok, but wasn’t a direct one. After 45min we stopped in Valencia but we didn’t need to switch planes ;) and kept on going for 45min more. Some people stayed with us and others stayed in Valencia. There were 3 guys who were with us the whole flight. They were laughing and joking the whole time, hahaha. I found it fun, but Blair didn’t seem to find it funny at all, mmm
Ok, let’s go to Maracaibo…
Airport in Anaco / Barcelona - Anzoategui Airport (BLA)
I have been here twice when I had to go to Anaco because of business, both times during the morning. This airport is small and is only for domestic flights. Most of the people who use this airport are either going to Anaco or to Puerto La Cruz.
Here are some issues to remember:
-although the counters, baggage claim and gates are in different levels, they don't have elevators.
-after claiming your bags and before leaving the airport a security officer will check your bag and the receipt you were given when you check in your bags. So they will be sure you are taking your bag.
-it reminded me Lima's airport from old times. It isn't automatized.
-the airport is not so close to the city. You'd have to take a cab and drive around 45min. Don't forget to bargain for the price
-since it's small don't expect many shops or restaurants. Just a couple of gift shops and snack bars. But at least you could taste an arepa :)
