A garota in Ipanema ;)
My intention was to wake up early and do the handgliding first in the morning. Rodrigo was supposed to call me early on Sunday. But I guess, that same as me he was tired, so he didn’t. I got a wake up call at 7:30am, and just turned around, hahaha. Finally I got up at 9:30am. I took a quick shower and was ready for the day. I wanted to go to a cybercafé and check my email. But at the front desk I met the Argentinean girls, my new friends, who were in their way to the beach before leaving
You see a lot of people playing volleyball, jogging, swimming or just taking sun. The landscape is so good, ;) I guess, you understand what I mean. The sand is white and the water nice blue. It wasn’t cold either. There are tons of kiosks, where you can find beers, coco water, sodas, water, etc. There are also vendors walking at the beach. They offer wraps, skirts, earrings, etc. I met my friends and same as me they were tired and just wanted to relax under the sun. I enjoyed my day with these girls. It was just a girly day ;)
Around 2:30pm, I decided to go back to the hotel.
I was thinking about Blair. I called him before leaving, letting him know I was going to the beach – so he wouldn’t look for me. But he was so sleepy, hahaha. It didn’t surprise me. I took and shower and was ready to keep on moving. I wanted to go to the Copacabana’s fair, but they won’t start working until 6pm, so I had some free time. I called Blair and told him about my plan. Ok, he wanted to join me. I went down to ask Tiago about the best way to go there and he told me there is a hippy market every Sunday in Ipanema, and they were working at that time.
Blair called me and I told him about my plans. I wanted to walk around and enjoy the nice day. He agreed and joined me for the walk. We went to the market. It was really colorful and nice. I was looking for my magnets, but couldn’t find one I really liked. Here was more about handicraft. I got a nice pic of
Around 7pm we decided to walk back to the hostel. I just realized I didn’t have breakfast and no proper lunch – just a salad fruit. That was why I was feeling a bit hungry. Blair was hungry too, although he had lunch. Ok, where to go? No more meat, please! I was intoxicated with meat, hahaha. Instead of that we went to a sushi place I “discovered” while I was walking to the beach earlier that day. We had sushi and sashimi. Mmm, I love the fresh fish! I didn’t want more alcohol, so I just a soda and Blair got his beer.
It was almost 9:30pm by the time we were at the hotel.
I was checking my email at Blair’s laptop, when someone called to the bedroom. It was Nicolas. One of the Argentinean guys I met at the front desk the day before. He was asking me about a bar or pub nearby. He and his friend want to go out for a while. I was the expert about
Suddenly I remembered I saw an Irish Pub in front of the park of the hippy market. I wasn’t sure about the other places, and the Irish Pubs are always fun, so we went there. Although it was a Sunday night, there were a good number of people. Not super crowded, but a lot of people. Ok, it was an Irish pub, so it was a lot of fun! We sit at the bar, asked for a couple of beers, I got Brahma – of course! I forgot to say that the guys play Tango.
They are musician and just got hired by a club in Copacabana. So it was their last free night in Ipanema. We found a table and moved. Then the show started. I was wondering, why they charged cover and then the live music started. They were singing 80’s songs (U2, Police, Queen, INXS), besides some 90’s and local music. We were chatting and had a great time. These boys were so fun! When I told them I have been in Bs As, but just for 1 ½ day, they started giving me a lot of recommendations about what to do there. I guess that having the advice of tango musicians is really great! I got friends in Bs As, cool! Most of all, because it’s one of my next destinations for holidays, hehehe.
I was back at the hotel around 1am and went straight to bed, after asking for a wake up call. The next day I had a meeting with a customer. So time to go back to work…

It's a cozy place, with different beers (including Guiness, of course!) You can sit at the bar and order your drinks, or go to a table.
They have live sports daily, so if you are far away from home and want to watch a game, that's the place. Also they have a pool table and dards.
There's a small balcony where you can enjoy a good conversation, a beer, and a cigarette.
I noticed that most of the people there were tourists. So, if you're feeling homesick or just want to take a break from the local experiences. This place is right for you!

It's not cheap, but according to Rio's standards is ok. The rate includes also a buffet breakfast. This breakfast is really good, different fresh fruits, yogurt, Brazilian coffee, bagels, bread, cheese, etc.
Regarding the location. It is very well located, just two blocks away from the famous. They even give you towels, chairs and umbrellas to take to the beach - free of charge.
The restaurant of the hotel is really good too. It's just next door and you can access directly from the hotel. This restaurant is always full, not just by guests, but also by local people who want to have a drink and eat. It has a great atmosphere.
The staff is also really kind and helpful. Maybe not all of them speak good English, but they do their best to help you.
The thing I didn't like much is that they don't have a free business center or wireless. Anyway, if you are there just for fun you don't really need it. And if you want to connect your laptop, just have to ask for a cord. They will charge this.
At the end I'd recommend you to stay in this place is you want to stay in Ipanema area. It might be a bit pricy, but the location & staff make the difference.
