The main reason for going was simple: being a long time football fan of Celtic Glasgow I said its about time to go and see them live. At that time Romania wasn’t in EU so I had to go to Bucharest and get a visa from the UK Embassy. So I had a 10 hours train to Bucharest and next morning got my visa. The funny thing was that at the interview I was asked “the reason for visiting UK” and replied “I wanna see my team playing”. The guy who interviewed me looked quite stunned, manly because everyone else who was there that day tried to get to UK to work.
So anyway, I got back home to Cluj and then took a minibus to Hungary, in Budapest. From there took plane to Amsterdam and then Glasgow. Total number of hours of travel including connection times: more than 25 hours. I arrived in Glasgow on Friday night, next day was the match, Celtic won, thank God although they were 1-0 down at half time. The best thing was that after a few days I got to meet some players and former players and I appeared in the clubs magazine with a 2 page interview. I guess they were quite surprised about my trip and the fact that I came such a long way for just a match. :)
After this I stayed another week in Scotland and saw Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkirk, and Bannockburn.
