The Ice Box Trail Hike

Saturday, April 05, 2008. 10:00 am

After a night of partying and intoxication for some, I must say it was not easy to rise early in preparation for a hike of all things. The Red Rock Canyon hike was scheduled for 10:00 a.m., but we did not get started until a few minutes after 10:30 am. We all convened at the Red Rock Canyon National Park Visitor's center, a total of 11 hikers namely: Harriet (Me), Melanie, Jennifer, Joy, Jillian, James, Matt, Sal, RJ, Tracy, and John. We set off in 4 cars with James driving his rented convertible, Melanie in hers, RJ took me and Sal and John drove his car. We set off along the canyon with stops to take photos and some stops were more exciting than others, one exciting stop was were RJ and I got to climb a tree for a photo, hehheeeeee!!

We hiked the ICE BOX TRAIL: from the information gathered at the visitor center, it does take at least 2 hours to hike the Ice Box which is considered a tough/ hard trail. I did not think it hard at all, but that could be because the company I had made it more fun than sporty, lol! We took almost 3 hours hiking and never even finished the trail - apparently it runs through to a waterfall (I would have loved to get there). Matt made for the entertainer throwing around English words that are pronounced rather poor in the American version of the English language. For example how do you pronounce TUBE, WATER, and ALUMINIUM ???????????????? did you get that right? well ask Matt (mattrilla).

I have absolutely no idea why it was named the Ice Box trail, I guess I can do some research on that huh? I imagine it gets ice during the winter? lol!
