Unlocking our bikes.
(After reading my entry about the first day, I thought that I should start giving details in a nutshell or it would take me forever to finish this blog. hahaha.)Day 2
I just chilled out, really. I started my day cycling around town with Ate Bebang after breakfast, pigging out on swedish and American food at lunch time, mall hopping until the time we would pick up the kids from school after 6pm. Pretty chilled out, eh? :P Day 3
Alone again. I think I stopped at almost every MRT station just to kill time before I met up with my cousin after lunch at Bugis Junction Mall. I had no idea where that was and apparently, every person I asked about that mall didn't know either.
the twins. :D
I don't know if they were Singaporeans or just tourists like me and they kept pointing at different directions. Well, I think I was the idiot. I should have just looked for it myself. It's just the mall connecting Bugis MRT Station and that central mall. booo! And it's actually the first mall I went to! hahaha! :P So yeah, I met up with my cousin and her husband Mark at Starbucks then we went to eat at the food center. Oh, I was the only one who ate (japanese food) because they've already eaten. We were supposed to watch The Leap Years (an exclusive Singaporean film), but it's only shown at some Golden Village mall which is kind of far from there and my cousin was already tired from walking and she's pregnant, so I couldn't really drag her. lol! So then I texted Foyan and asked her to meet me at 7pm at Central Promenade mall (hope I got it correct.
me and my cousin Joanna.
With all the shopping malls in Singapore, you'd get confused!lol) near Clark Quay. :) And this was the start of the crazy night out...
I've made a blog on that here (http://www.travbuddy.com/travel-blogs/26764) but didn't really write anything about and on it. :P
It was a great night despite other "disturbances" :P Okay, it was that German guy who never left us until the last minute and who kept chasing me around the dance floor and dropping horrible pick up lines. HORRIBLE, as I should stress. hahaha! :P I was just glad that Chris and Foyan were there to block his view and his way to me. hahaha! :P Love you guys! :) We'd have a night like that again and please, no more psychos. haha! :)Day 4
Foyan and I went to Night Safari.
Just for laughs: Look at this pic. see? I look annoyed 'coz of that guy.hehe :P
But before that, we have arranged to meet up at Ang Mo Kio Station and I love how you can make calls to a mobile phone (Singaporean network, of course) from a local landline phone in Singapore. How convenient and cheap! lol! :) So I always take advantage of it. :P I always call up people when I was there. ;) So I never had any problem trying to contact Foyan and everyone. :)
At the Night Safari, we took the usual 45-minute tram ride to meet the animals of the wild. hahaha :) I had almost fallen asleep if not for Foyan who kept scaring me about the hyenas that might come running towards me and bite my arm off anytime. hahaha. :P We have also succesfully completed walking through every trail for hours. Then we watched a show at the amphitheatre and had a real good laugh at this old Indian woman from the audience who interrupted the speaker just to say "Good day, mate!" in thick British accent.
at the entrance
That was so funny. She even had to repeat it 3 or 4 times just for the speaker and everyone to hear her. It was hilarious. Foyan and I couldn't stop laughing, I almost died rolling on the floor. hahaha! :P Now that's an exaggeration but you know what I mean. :) Then I went home by myself at around 11:50pm by bus and taxi and it took me about 1 and a half hours to get to my place. The worst part was telling directions to the taxi driver who was expected to know the way better than I do. When I said turn to block 170, he thought I said Block 133. When I said pull over, he understood "go further". I've never felt so misunderstood in my entire life. Haha!Day 5
Didn't do anything exciting today because it kept raining the whole day and when you're somewhere in the quiet Pasir Ris area, you're sure to feel lonely.
Umwahhhh! :P Got 3 and drank it all to put me to sleep.
My Aunt must have noticed my restlessness so she asked me if I wanted to come to the supermarket with her so I did because I obviously didn't want to stay in the house although I still have a lot of work to do with my laptop. So we went to Giants supermarket (or was it Courts? no, it's Giants. :P) and we brought these shopping trolleys with us so we wouldn't have to carry plastic bags. On our way home, 3 Indian men (security guards as identified with their uniforms) followed my Aunt and I out and kept insisting to drag the trolleys for me. Honestly, why would I still need any help if I could just easily drag it behind me? Hello?! Shopping trolleys have wheels! It's not like I have to carry it on my back or it would defeat its purpose. But these guys just won't quit and they didn't stop until they got me annoyed! Anyway, 15 mins before the shuttle bus arrived, my Aunt grabbed some spring rolls for me to munch on.
there goes the balloon
When we got home, I just logged on to TB and finished working. That's it!Day 6
Worked in the morning then went to the post office to send out the postcards that I bought. For lunch, Ate Bebang and I went to my favorite hawker food stall in Bugis area. :) Tao Seng! :) I love it there, just because it's cheaper than the others and the staff are really nice and already knows me by face. :P On my third time to eat there, they already knew that I'd get Coke Zero so they didn't have to ask me. Then I got a yummy yet spicy laksa and some curry. Ah! I was glad I was able to tolerate the burning sensation while I was eating! After that, we did a lot of walking from Bugis, to Suntec City, to malls along Beach Road, to City Hall, Raffles, Marina Bay, etc.
Fish and chips? ;)
I think, as I could remember it, we walked a stretch of 4-5 MRT station stops from Bugis and I really didn't feel that tired. Maybe because it was gloomy and I wasn't sweating from the heat.
And then I blew out a wish at the Fountain of Wealth, Suntec. It was just funny silly I must have been to walk around it for 3 times with your hand over or touching the water while internalizing what your heart desires. hahahaha! Well come to think about it, it wasn't that silly I guess...I got what I wished for that day, but I lost something else. God really does empty your hands for something greater. Okay, time for some puzzling sentences! haha! :) Enough!
I would also be meeting up with Foyan tonight because I've been pestering her to do the reverse bungee with me. But because I won't be meeting her until 7pm and it was only 5pm, I went home first to take a shower.
Our bikes! :)
Oh, one more thing, I had to charge my camera's battery because it died on me just as I was taking pictures of the Merlion earlier which pissed me off, really. Well, I got some videos though! hahaha!
7pm now, time to hurry up. I called up Foyan and asked her which station I'd get off at to get to Marina Bay because I was able to reach that place only by walking so I had no idea. She told me I should get off at City Hall station so I did, but boy! I walked like miles!!! Hahaha! And I when I got to Starbucks to meet her, I started complaining about the distance and she started apologizing to me because she should have said Raffles City instead of City Hall. Wahh! Didn't really complain much, I have found a strange gratification in walking so it's no big deal. *liar* haha! Anyway, we went to meet up with her friend JP who I got to talking in a seconds and because he's nice (or just got bullied by us), he treated us out to dinner and drinks.
sushi galore! :P
I loved the Chili Crab and the round bread?! haha! It could have been a perfect night if we didn't stuff ourselves so much and didn't get any excuse not to get our asses shot up on the reverse bungee. But Foyan and the gang chickened out at the thought of throwing up all our insides while up in the air. That thought didn't make me decide not to do it but those two guys who started shrieking like little girls as soon as they got seated on the catapult thingy. haha! So I thought, maybe it's that scary and that could wait another time. Boo!Day 7
Screw this day! It won't stop raining! :) So I did nothing the whole day but to sort out the mails in my inbox and do my laundry - just tossing it in the washing machine! haha. Just chilled out and played some games on Nintendo DS which eventually got me bored.
the lonely goodluck cat at the Japanese food stall.
Later this day, my Aunt called from her office telling me that we'd go out for dinner because one of my closest and coolest Uncle would be arriving from the Phils so that news lightened me up. So we just had dinner, shopped and dropped my uncle off at his hotel. Day 8
I wouldn't leave Singapore without going to Sentosa
island! I know it's all manmade, but who cares?! I just wanted to be up that Carlsberg Skytower and feel the rush with the luge. hehe! Okay, I dragged Ate Bebang with me again so someone would take my pictures! haha! Kidding! :) I did almost everything that could be done there. Well of course, only the ones that caught my attention.
Uhm, nothing. hehe :P
;) Oh this is my luck! During the luge ride, I didn't realize I was carrying some sotong balls with me and its bloody thick (literally!) sauce spilled on my jeans and I couldn't stop to wipe it off so it continued spreading out a streak of horror down my jeans. Nice! Took photos, snap snap . :) It was fun and the only thing annoying was that this coin operated binoculars ate up my 2 sgd and it didn't work! Damn it! I felt cheated. haha!
After Ate Bebang went home, I called up Foyan and told her to meet me if she could. But she still have a class until 9pm, so I had to think of something to do while waiting. So I pulled out my map, which I don't usually do, and started wandering off by myself around City Hall area, Raffles City, Funan Mall (yes! I finally found the mall! but didn't buy gadgets.
That's Sandy, my cousin, taking off the seaweed wrap from her sushi. weird!
haha), etc. I ate at KFC, Funan Mall because I've been missing it and was disappointed that the gravy doesn't taste as nice as what we have in the Philippines, really. ;) Then I got pretty bored and suddenly started thristing for some beers so I ended up at Insomnia and another forgot-the-name bar in Chjmes. Got two Bacardi lime and two Carlsbergs and drowned myself with it. hahaha! And hey! I got drunk with the bill I have to pay after the last drop so I canceled the date with Foyan and just went home. Haha! Pfft!
At the dinner table, I announced that I'd be leaving for Malaysia early morning tomorrow. Then the twins got up from their seats and threw their arms around me, "NOOO! Don't go! Stay with us forever!!" and for a moment, I literally couldn't breathe with one's arms around my neck.
Got you Stacy. ;)
hahaha! Yeah, I would love to stay with them longer but I couldn't. So they made me promise that I'd be back again sometime again this year and I did. Now I'm doomed - because I rarely break promises! So I have to come back, I have ttttttooooooo! hahaa! Maybe for the Formula 1 night race in September? *wink wink* Day 9
Woke up at 6am, left at 7:30 and got into Tristar bus bound for Kuala Lumpur at exactly 5 minutes before my departure. You know I ran about a hundred meters from the Lavander MRT station just to get there on time! Phew! So approximately, the daytrip would take 6hours and I don't really mind long roadtrips as long as my seat's comfortable - and it was, by the way.
Ahhh, thank God! And because I'm lucky with getting the best seats...nobody sat beside me so I don't have to worry about a snoring and drooling stranger beside me and Ash, my beloved laptop, could lie down next to me instead. Yipee! Bye Singapura...see you next time! :)
