7am alarm, ignored.

7:30, mobile phone fell off the bed.

A knock on the door, ignored.

Another knock on the door, louder this time.

Picked up my phone, my eyes widened - it's 9am! I opened the door, apologized and said we'll be downstairs in 15mins! "Duck! We have to get going!" I stuffed all my things in my bag, took a real quick shower then checked out of the hostel - all under 15 mins! Wooh! Without having breakfast (again), we hopped in the pick-up that would take us to where the minivan was parked. As usual, Wayne got the seat at the farthest back (comfy enough I think) but I was the favored one - the passenger seat was offered to me and it's mine alone! hahaha! Yay! I actually thought we're still waiting for the person who was supposed to seat beside me.

Luckily for me, no one came. Yay again! :P While Wayne got himself squeezed with the oldies at the back, I was feeling mega chilled out and real comfy - just a little sick because my tummy had been screaming for food and my throat had been craving for ice cold water! :P

We finally stopped at a highway eatery to grab some food after 3.5 hours. :) I didn't eat much though. Just got myself some water and coke. And the fried noodles? I gave it away after two swallows to my audience (street kids) who watched closely and admired how I used my chopsticks to shove the food into my mouth. :) Oh, they got my coke first and each had a drop from the can. Aww. :(

After 5 hours or something, we finally arrived in Luang Prabang and because Wayne got ssooo annoyed when one tuktuk offered to take us anywhere for 80,000kip, his brilliant mind decided that we should just go on walking for miles until we find this hostel that a tuber in Vang Vieng suggested.
Wayne chilling out
Right. We have the calling card, but nobody knows how to read the freakin' map, let alone understand those English words on it. They have this huge question mark written all over their faces. I'm not sure how it's spelled but it's something like Ooluamphuong Guesthouse. Yes, sounds like Huamlamphong station in Bangkok. :D Anyway, after going through too much stress asking around, I finally got Wayne into a compromise. We'd get a tuktuk but I'd be the one to negotiate the price for 10,000 kip between us. Because he's not in the mood to get into any discussion with tuktuk drivers at this point. lol! Honestly, I first told the tuktuk driver I'll give him 5,000kip but I got a blank stare and a smirk. In his mind he's probably asking himself, "What is this cheapo thinking?!" so I laughed at what I just said and agreed to double it.
This was when Wayne was showing the waiter how to take pictures and the shutter just snapped while he was holding it! hahahahah!
He was hesitant at first but really, that's all I was going to pay him. :P He actually didn't know where to take us, but you know how people sometimes act all knowing just to get you to ride.

Anyway, we finally found the place but a man approached us who gave us some weird fruits (we ate it out of hunger!lol!) and asked us to check out his guesthouse so we did because we're not done eating yet! It would be rude to wave him away. Haha! But we just thought that the 70,000 kip was expensive for a fan room so we decided to go to our original destination. But boy! Was it any different?! NO! hahaha! I think its toilet was even worse except that it has a heater. But who would really need a heater on real hot days?! lol! That girl who gave us the contact must really hate Wayne. But because of our pride, we didn't bother going back to the first one even if this guesthouse took 30,000 kip more for almost the same room quality.
Now that's better. Wayne's a good teacher. lol!
lol!

After we're settled in, we just headed out to where most people were. Ordered some food and saw Scott and Andrea again from Vang Vieng - small world! Well, you know we weren't meant to be drinking tonight but one our way back after wandering around, checking out the airport, getting plane tickets for tomorrow and sending off Laos postcards to each other (hahahahaha! weirdos!), Wayne turned to me and said, "Hmm, how about a beer or two?" Actually that's what I was thinking too, so I nodded. GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE! Haha! But really, it's mainly because I know I won't be able to sleep that early! It's only 22:45! I eventually got hungry, so I got myself grilled chicken from the street and called it a day. And for the record, this was our earliest bedtime - just before 12 midnight! Whoa! I lay there on the bed for an eternity until I heard my alarm and realized it was time to wake up Wayne at 7am.
Buddhist temple at Haw Kham - okay, that's according to wikipedia. haha :D
Oh hey, did I tell you that it started raining hard that time and thought there was a typhoon or something? Oh well, it only lasted for 30 minutes. Whew! Thought we're going to be stranded at the hostel and see nothing! LOL!

Whoops, I am now talking about DAY 2. Sorry, it's just because I didn't get some shut-eye that night and thought this was the extension of the first day. lol!

So yeah, we wandered off to a few temples - the first one to Phousi Hill. How many steps to the peak? 400 something? By the time we reached the top, we couldn't go down anymore without getting even a drink! So we waited for a little while for the cute little shy monk teens finished setting up their food kiosk. :P Anyway, we have to go back to the guesthouse before 11 to check out, but told Wayne we could go back before 12 so we wouldn't have to carry our bags around and go straight to the airport.
what kind of shot is this?:P haha
So that's what rebels do! hahaha!

Our plane won't be taking off until 15:15 but knowing Wayne's bad luck with airports, I didn't argue with him when he stood up from his seat when I wasn't through with my "chips" yet. And it's just 13:00! lol! Well, apparently the check-in counter closes 45 mins before boarding. Our plane, the Fokker one (hahaha), arrived 15 minutes late. Boo! So Wayne and I have had a lot of time to waste - updating travel journal, making fun of each other, shaking our heads in disbelief that our stay in Luang Prabang didn't even last for 24 hours (haha), but loved every minute of it. Oh Laos, I should have buried a time capsule somewhere and dig it up when I come back. :) Argh, I'm in love with this place and I'll be back to get to know more about you and find more reasons to love you.

...wahhh.....

*snap* enough of the drama...

Okay now, let's get out of this mental LP Airport. :D Hanoi - next target! And getting a lot of warnings/negative feedbacks regarding the proliferation of scammers in Vietnam, Wayne was turning psycho, "I swear Sarj, I am never going to trust anyone there apart from you." which was kind of funny because he looked dead serious when he said that. LOL! Easy duck, easyyy. haha!
