Andrew's 44th Birthday
September 27, 2005
When we got off the ship we decided to hire a taxi with another couple. We told the driver he had 2 hours to show us San Francisco. At first he wasn't too sure but after a while he loosened up and was able to take us to a lookout and drive down Lombard Street, where a bus could not go. Our only stipulation was that we wanted to be driven across the bridge. It was good, and we ended that tour at Fishermans Wharf. A bit of wandering around and we decided to have lunch. That is when we heard the seals! There were heaps of them. Alcatraz was booked out so I bought Andrew a souvenier instead. Another great day. Definately another must come back to destination. The ship sailed out on time but not til after they unloaded a passenger that had had a heart attack. Andrew had the birthday cake and the song at dinner tonight. Lots of fun. At sea tommorrow so when we saw land a few hours after leaving port, we knew something was up. We were heading back into San Francisco. Some one had had a medical emergency and they deemed it safer to go back to port than to use a helicopter. Although we couldn't get off the ship, we saw San Francisco at night and heard their biggest source of noise pollution. The Seals!
