After graduating from college, we chose the obvious path of a one way plane ticket to mexico. Our only plan is to make one as we go.

Sights and sounds

Today we spent the day exploring the busy streets of Merida.  The city center, or Zocola, was bustling with venders, families, and live music, surrounded by brightly colored colonial buildings and cathedrals which adorn much of the city.  We wandered into the contemporary museum of yucatecan art, which was open, airy, and inviting. It was a welcomed dose of culture after our nights of debachery on the beach. There are less tourists, and hardly anyone speaks english. Our first taste of the political situation currently affecting Mexico occured when a small group of Obrador supporters marched through the streets briefly.

Next stop

Horray, our second destination! We arrived at Merida, a city that should be about 4 hours away from Isla Mujeres. However, thinking economically, we decided to purchase 2nd class bus tickets for 60 pesos less. So our bus ride took close to 6 hours.Lets just say we learned our lesson. We are staying at Nomades Hostel. The nights of drinking and partying that we enjoyed on Isla Mujeres caught up to us, and the peaceful nature of the hostel is a welcomed change.
