After a few days of feeling like San Pedro had gotten just a little too small, I abruptly decided to go to El Salvador with Mel for awhile. I left Katie behind and we went our separate ways for about a week and a half, where my goals included detoxing from the too-fun party scene of San Pedro and relaxing. Mission accomplished, as my favorite president would say. Mel and I started in Lago de Coetepeque where we camped on a dock for 2 or 3 nights. There was almost nothing else to do in the "town" except lay on the dock and sunbathe. so that we did, and that we did well. This lake was kindof a tiny example of how the rest of El Salvador is; there were either people that lived at the lake with private helicoptors (seriously) or people who could barely afford to feed their kids. There is nobody in between here. I also saw a dog at the lake that still haunts my dreams, or nightmares, whose skin was falling off his body and had no fur and was so skinny you could almost see through it, and then it started chasing me and i was scared. we left the next day.
