Beaches of El Salvador

La Libertad Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

After graduating from college, we chose the obvious path of a one way plane ticket to mexico. Our only plan is to make one as we go.

Beaches of El Salvador

We arrived at the beach on the 10th anniversary of the signing of the peace accord to end the civil war, which is a huge holiday here.  This unexpectedly ended up being a great big party, which impeded my sobriety goal quite quickly. We met a group of local boys who tried to drunkenly fill us in on the details of the brutal civil war that still greatly affects this security obsessed country, but we didnĀ“t have much luck. We spent the night celebrating with El Salvadorenos and woke up the next day to find out that everyone had apparently left town and we spent the next two days with the entire beach to ourselves. As far as I could see, there was not one other person on this beautiful black sand beach except for the occational surfer. We spent two more nights relishing in our isolation.
