Start of my travel work adventures
I had decided that I was in a rut at my current job so I decided to give this Travel Nursing a try. My first assignment would be in the hospital at Attleboro, Massachusetts. If I'm allowed to say, I was told that a certain quarterback football player had been treated there. If it was good enough for him, it was certainly good enough for me to work at! lol No this did not influence my decision! Anyways I left Pennsvlvania at 6am and took off on my adventure. The drive was fine until I crossed the state line into Connecticut after crossing the bridge over the Hudson River. Traffic was at a standstill on 95 North for no particular reason at 1pm. No construction and no accidents and how frustrating it was! UGH! The traffic just creeped along and what should had taken 2 hours to drive, it took me over 4 hours to get to Rhode Island.
Now the apartment office was closing in half an hour since it was a Saturday and I was more than that away! Luckily I explained to the office what happened and she kindly waited for me to arrive to give me the key. I moved in and was exhausted from the 13 hour drive. Luckily there was a McDonalds right across the street and a Honey Dew Donut Shop. Not a good thing because I won't resist the temptations and probably gain 20 lbs. lol Also upon arriving, to my dismay, there were no blinds in any of the windows! No curtains, nothing! Great, bare, huge, double windows and I was on the 1st floor with cars parked right outside my living room window! I'm not kidding when I say the headlights shine in the living room. Also the apartment had a musky smell. It was big, not exactly beautiful but Ok for a 1st apartment. My friend Nicole and a friend of hers were arriving later, to help me move in and exploe the area that weekend. When Nicole called, she thought I was exagerating about the windows. lol When I attempted to nap before their arrival, it was worthless due to the street light shining in the bedroom which was also bare. lolAround 1am they arrived & they couldn't believe the "no blinds" situation. A man went past the window smiling in as I was totally embarassed! A trip to Target would be in the plans for the next day.
