Cotopaxi volacano

So I've decided to spend 5 months travelling in South America starting in Quito in late September and ending up in Buenos Aires in late February 07. How will it go? What will happen in between? I don't yet know, but you're all invited to find out..

On the way to Saquisili we passed the Cotopaxi volcano.  It was a beautiful day and the views were superb, the whole mountain just appeared to float in the sky.

Saquisili, Ecuador

Visited a traditional market at a small town about 2 hours from Quito.  It was full of livestock (pigs, cows, llamas) and brightly coloured crafts+clothes and all sorts of fresh food.  It was a great place to go for your weekly shop, so much more alive and interesting than going to Tesco!

On the way back we stopped at a restaurant and tucked into the local delicacy - guinea pig.  It is great fun to play with, though pretty hard to find meat on.  The one I had came without head or testicles but others weren´t so lucky (see photo)!

Hi Simon! We've registered on this website so we can leave comments and now we even have a webpage but because we don't go anywhere there's nowhere to put on it really. Anyway, just wanted to say what a lovely volcano. and that i hope everyone's being nice to you. Ed's out clubbing with Simon Hughes at the moment (!) but i'm sure he will leave you a nice long comment soon! Take care, SB
