Baños is ... lovely but wet

Have now spent a couple of days chilling out in Banos and recommend it as a very good place to come to reacclimatise to normal life after weeks spent in the jungle. I can sleep in a proper bed, eat nice food (icecream, cheese etc - luxury) and not have to worry about the threat of biting insects of any sort!
Today and yesterday I started out on walks which ended up accidently taking much longer than intended! Baños is a small town set in a valley between steep hills on either side, only 8 km from the active volcano Tungaruhua (active as in it errupted in July and then again in August, and threatens to do so again any time). Anyway the views round here are lovely, overlooking the town as the photos show.
Yesterday there were protests by locals that the Government wasn´t doing enough to monitor the volcanic activity and they blocked the roads so that nobody could get in or out! Fortunatley it didn´t disrupt my plans, but tomorrow I hope to be able to leave for Riobamba, following roughly the same itinerary as planned but everything brough forward a little to give me more time to explore the big cities (and surroundings) on the coast in the North of Peru.
