Botanical Beach ... Pacific Rim National Park Reserve ... on Vancouver Island, B.C.
Where am I going ... I know it's called Botanical beach but I have no idea what to expect ... I try to keep my excitement in ... bad enough having nieces and nephews getting 'loud' let alone me ... but the ride there wasn't exactly quiet for I was pressing the camera every second. When I was relaxing I shut the camera off and then I'd see something beautiful and pressed the button and felt "I missed the shot" for in my excitement I forgot I turned off the camera ... I'm so concerned with having enough battery juice, remembering back to my Guilin, China trip when I 'ran out' of batteries in another picturesque part of our world.
My brother-in-law parked the truck and we all made a last minute trip to outhouses they provide at the beginning of the trails ... I noticed while 'sitting' a sign saying "Black Bear and Cougar may be present at any time. Black Bear have not become used to feeding on garbage, please pack your garbage out of the park. Cougars normally avoid people and are rarely seen. Take precautions by leaving your pets at home and ensuring your small children do not venture alone into brush areas"
Hmmm ... I leave and catch up with my sis and her family, of course I'm always 'clicking' away, never wanting to miss that perfect shot ... then suddenly the sun peaks through the forest and the landscape changes with water, huge waves, many tidepools (big and very small that have been sculptured and formed out of soft sandstone that comes in and out daily with the waves and tides ... I can see the Pacific!
There are many little creatures here, I want to just sit and look at each living creature, but at the same time the sound of each waves makes me stay solely focused on each wave coming in and out ... my family keeps on my 'back' "don't go to close, the waves are fast and they can pull you in"
I knew when I arrived here that I wanted to return here again before going home ... and I did!!!
