Traditional Okinawan Dancing and Cultural Music
March 29, 2008
Our Okinawan landlord's daughter gave us tickets to watch her dance at the Ishikawa Cultural Center in Okinawa, Japan. It was a celebration of the sensei (teacher) who turned 88 and it was the 55th year of the cultural event. The simisan, kyotos and dancing was a fabulous way to experience the culture of Okinawa. Unfortunately, no video recording was allowed, but it was a fascinating display of music and dance with very ellaborate stage sets.
