Cabs have ads on tv screen, well I thought it was interesting.

Today I get up early and catch the Hop on Hop off bus at 8 am from Times Square.  It’s the only way to ensure that you get a seat on the top of the bus.  I do a circuit of downtown NY which takes around three hours.  The next time I get off at Ground Zero and visit St Paul’s which has a very moving memorial to the volunteers.  Next I walk down to catch the ferry to go to The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, but there’s at least half an hour’s wait and it’s hot.  I decide not to go today.  Instead I hop on the bus again and get off at Pier 17, which is just another mall and eatery.  Have something to eat, get back on the bus and then change to the uptown route.  I had thought of doing the night tour but you really need a coat to sit on the top of the bus at night, so I decide to return to the hotel.

I go to the pharmacy and have great difficulty buying some expectorant.  The assistant is so rude, he hasn’t heard of it and makes fun of me; finally a pharmacist helps out.  I just don’t get the service here, it’s weird.  Don’t they want to sell anything?

When I get back to the hotel, I take the expectorant which is in tablet form.
