In 2008 I travelled solo around the world for four months, spending three months of that time in South and Central America. The blog was initially visible only to family and friends, but now I'm publishing it for everyone, in the hope that it will be helpful for others intending to follow the paths that I have travelled.

Slightly more exciting

Breakfast in bed again.  L from 9 to 12.  Spanish homework.  This evening I tried out the splint and went out with Lilliana, the assistant manager of the hotel, for a light dinner at the Joy Ride Cafe, her choice of restaurant.  It is a nice little place with lots of ambience.  77BOB, AUD11 for two.  The beauty of travelling alone is that it forces you to meet and be with different people, thus enriching the experience.  In addition, it means that I practise my Spanish several times every day with different people.

Intend going out tomorrow to see some sights, even though I’ll be very slow.  The name of the game is that I can’t bend my right knee.

Speaking to different people with different accents is a really good way to improve very fast!
