I've spent the last 12 months trying to figure out how to stuff the next 12 into one, cartable backpack. This blog is documentation of my attempted life as a nomad. Here's to my summer of George...

Just me and my Dad.

He was still having fun at this point, I swear.
In order to assure he wouldn't miss me too much on my year abroad, my dad and I planned a roadtrip. 40 hours together in a little car ought to do the trick. The second half of our trip was from Houston to Santa Fe, via Carlsbad, NM. Amazingly enough, there's not a lot to see in West Texas or eastern New Mexico. It was a lot of ghost towns, tumble weeds and wind. Spotted with the occasional Dairy Queen oasis, to our delight. With only 2 cds in the car and a not so appealing variety of country and spanish radio stations, we've had to get creative in ways to pass the miles. Together we completed 7 crossword puzzles, devised an entire storyline and soundtrack for our roadtrip movie and now know how to say "yes" and "no" in danish, dutch, french, german, greek, italian, norwegian, portuguese, spanish, swedish and turkish.
