Jelgava good time
I took a 2-day break from Riga in the middle of my stay and went to the nearby town of Jelgava. I stayed with Antra--a girl I'd met briefly in Berlin. She's also a couchsurfer, but knowing her made it that much easier and welcoming.
Turns out, there's not a whole lot to do in Jelgava. Combining that with the fact Antra had to work both days and it poured rain the entire time, I was left with few options.
But still, I was proud to get off the beaten track and out of the city for a bit. I'm starting to feel stuck in a tourist trap of capital cities and souvenir shops, and want to do what I can to avoid it.
It was also really nice to have a familiar face to visit. However minimally familiar it may be, it still provides an enormous sense of comfort on the road.
