I had to start out with this pic...They built an escalator that runs down the middle of the city! It's awesome!

I really have to owe my whole Hong Kong experience to my friend, Christine.  She moved to HK from NY a couple years ago...she was sorely missed in NY but we ALL were excited to be able to visit her in HK...I think a couple of us actually followed through...I'm happy to say I was one!

The poor girl had to put up with me for a whole 5 days and didn't kill me.  She escorted me everywhere and even took me to a Maroon 5 concert my first night!  Unfortunately I don't have any pics of that yet...need to get some from Christine's friends.  Anyway..there's definitely something special about being at a concert of a band that you know and hearing them say, "Hello Hong Kong!" :)

Hong Kong is an awesome city...everyone speaks English.

Seeing this cemented the realization that HK is really not part of China : )
..the food is great, the nightlife is up to par, the cafe/wine lifestyle everywhere to be found.  We hit Jazz Bars...great restaurants...wine bars...concerts...trolleys...ferries...you name it.  It's definitely not cheap...it's NY prices, but when you're used to that...it's tolerable, then again, living in NY makes many other things tolerable ;)

Btw...There's an escalator running down the middle of Central Hong Kong!  It's like nothing else I've ever seen.  Imagine standing on an escalator passing by pubs with a bunch of people screaming cause Manchester United just scored a goal...or people chilling outside a cafe drinking wine while you pass by...not walking : )

Enjoy the pics!

Hopefully Beijing next!

I love this Tian Tan Buddha! I've been wanting to visit it since I saw at 'Globetrekker' show. Bummer, when I was there Sept 07, my digital camera was stolen in Cambodia. Oh well - all my HONG KONG photos gone.

Great City. I was there in 2003 and loved that city.
For sure that on one day I'm coming back.
So great that you also visited a Maroon 5 concert!!

Enjoy your stay in Asia!!
