Overlanding from Cape Town (South Africa), through Namibia, Botswana, and finish in Vic Falls (Zimbabwe). Make my way back to Maun (Botswana) to do an Earthwatch program with Nile crocodiles. Make my way back to Cape Town. Go up the coast to Hermanus if I have time.

Cape Town

Hey all

K I'm going to tell you now that i'm not going to do any of this justice writing it here cos i have 6 minutes. Well the stop over in Jo'burg was fine, i didn't get killed in the 30minutes (or whatever) i was there. I met a cool guy on the plane who was from zimbabwe but lived in New Zealand for the last 6 years. He had a rare condition... some kind of cancer and had all this life support stuff with him. He said the doctors said he had 3 to 5 years to live, it was kind of... I don't know. Strange. What do you say to someone who knows they've only got a few more years? Anyway, he was on his way home to see his family while he still could so that was cool.

I'm in Cape Town now and its been raining the last 2 days they said. Unusual, apparently. I've just been walking down Long street whcih is apparently the main backpacker area... its pretty cool, and scary at the same time. Everyone... EVERYONE on the street looks so dodgy. including me, probably. even the tourists look dodgy. but yeah you're not meant to carry a bag (or a big one) in case u get mugged... and stuff. And they have "security guards" outside some shops.... I think the criteria for security guards here is something like; must be female, 30 years old and with 12 children, or some guy off the street...

k lots more to say but dont have time i'll write more later. table mountain is awesome great view from backpacker place! got the table cloth on though k cya!

Hehe, in hindsight Long Street wasn't that bad at all... Before I typed this I think I'd just spoken to a lady from the hostel who gave me a good scare about it :P
