They are surrounded by water, but not all are good for swimming. The shorelines are mostly cliffs with violent waves and/or extremely rocky shallow waters---with violent waves hehe
Batanes is the number 1 supplier of garlic to the Philippines before the mass-produced Taiwanese came.
Their garlic is smaller but it doesnt have fertilizer or wattever
No irrigation (obviously) runs through the hills. Ivatan farmers DO NOT water their crops. There is a certain time of the yer that u can plant such that the soil is so moist, you dont need to water them
U hardly find a trees in batanes, and plants with foliage..like Palm trees..they always have dried up extremities, due to the harsh sea breeze that dries them out
The Ivatan vernacular houses made of stone, lime and cogon are only found in 3 places of Earth: Scotland, Finland and batanes.
There are no homeless in Batanes. No Beggars. Every child has a family to go home to. One of the strongest Ivatan values is the spirit of cooperativism (Bayanihan) where everyone helps each other.
So this will end of my Philippine Travel blog....for now. Time to concentrate with Europe..mainly, Denmark =)
