a short trip to Borg a Myrum

the fjord near Borgarnes

Finally the weather cleared up, so we were able to do a little hike to a small settlement close to Borgarnes: Borg a Myrum. This is the place where some of Iceland's most important figures have spent a part of their lifetime. The first one to settle there was Skallagrímur Kveldúlfsson, father of Egil( you know...the main character of Egil's Saga), more than 1000 years ago. The next one was Snori Sturluson, a scholar and an hystorian, almost 300 years later. Unfortunatelly, there's nothing preserved from the original settlement. But the walk to the farm that is there now was a really nice one and it gave us a really good view of the fjord and of Borgarnes, which, of course, I couldn't take pictures of, as I forgot to charge the camera the day before( aparrently...at that point...my memory was on holiday as well :) ).
