The Trip on the 4th day (1200km)
Well, the next day, me and my sister wanted to visit the Italian Alps and the ‘Dolomites’ because we’ve only seen the Austrian and Swiss Alps. And I have to say… the Italian Alps are quite different. Different vegetation, steeper mountains and more rocks. I loved the different green trees! We drove from Innsbruck to Bolzano, Italy. From there we left the highway and drove to a small village called Agordo. In this place we could see the Dolomites Mountains. So we drove to them. Beautiful! After making some video’s and pictures, we drove over the highway to Trieste, Italy. Great city! But because we wanted to visit Slovenia and Croatia, we couldn’t stay for long in Trieste. For me it was the first time I saw the Adriatic See, because I’ve never been in southern Europe.
I loved the Mediterranean vegetation! We crossed the border of Italy and Slovenia. Soon we approached the city of Koper, Slovenia. What a lot of cars!!! Because Koper is the only harbour of Slovenia, it is very busy there. Different car brands have their distribution centers there. We drove to the border of Croatia, and made a little ride through Croatia. We had to hurry and head back to Slovenia because it was getting late and we had to drive to Innsbruck again. We drove trough Buje, Buzet and Vodice. Especially Buzet was nice to see. This town was located on the top of a hill. That was a different view, because in the Alps the towns are of course located in the valleys. At Vodice we got lost. We didn’t had a good map of navigation system, and we tried to find the border to go to Slovenia again. Because the most Croatians didn’t speak English very well we got confused, haha! After 45 minutes we crossed the border and were in Slovenia again. We drove full throttle because it was getting late and dark. Night was coming. We passed the capitol of Slovenia, Ljubljana and we were amazed about the gentle scenery of Slovenia; what a beautiful country! I could go here for a summer holiday someday!
Innsbruck when we left in the morning
Well, after 1200 kilometers (750 miles) and 13 hours of driving we were back in Innsbruck.
Men, what a day…Zzzzzzzzzz
