Stuck on an island - Gili Trawangan

After all the hard work of diving and travelling outside the western comfort zone I decided it would be a good idea to take a break from it all and kick back on Gili Trawangan, a tiny island off the coast of Lombok and known as a backpacker party place, kind of Kuta's (Bali) little sister. Without the surfing, without the cops but with some dive sites and mushroom shakes advertised everywhere.
There's no motorised traffic allowed on the island so you can rent a bike or take a pony cart. You can cycle around the island in about an hour.
For predictable reasons I didn't manage to do much in 7 days except a snorkel trip (lots of turtles at 10 meters), snorkeling off the beach (you can see turtles just 2 meters below, they're very friendly and curious) and cycle around the island.
And met a lot of people from all around the world, for some reason there's lots of Swedish surfers around ("You'll be my friend tonight!"), Californians (who claim being a different country from the rest of the US), Polish (travelling very fast but very friendly), Dutch (weirdest people on earth), French (regularly weird) and even the odd Portuguese (who are just eh, Portuguese :-), English (shattering the peace on the island by knocking out cold a Swedish surfer over a girl, bloody chav...)
The bars rotate to organise parties and the dance floor is full of locals, some of them obviously trying to impress lonely western women. First time I see female sex tourism in Asia...
I chatted for a while with a local 15 year old who wanted to improve his English, and he then decided that we were friends so he always followed me to the dance floor going all out on the Chemical Brothers, guess it's a common Indonesian thing to do with your friends?
Yesterday I wanted to leave for Bali and start my week of surf training but strangely enough I didn't manage... tomorrow next try ;-)
