Hi cousins!
August 26, 2008
When I look at the statistics my family is pretty scattered around the globe: of my relatives 1 lives in New Zealand, 1 in Mexico, 2 in Holland, 5 in Portugal and 5 in Canada (and my mom is undecided as she currently rotates between Holland, Portugal, Costa Rica and Canada). Anyway with all the visits the Canadian side paid to Holland over the years it was long overdue for me to return the favour and look them up in Vancouver. Lucky me that there had just been a reunion on that side so I could also see 2 of my cousins who don't live in Canada at the moment. Although the time we spent wasn't near enough to compensate for the backlog it was great to finally catch up at least a bit. I hadn't seen some of my cousins for over 20 years so there's still plenty of excuses for future trips :).
My cousin Marieke picked me up from the airport despite the fact I arrived a day earlier than I had told her: I didn't realise I was going to cross the dateline and actually travel back in time. Only found out when I landed :D. It was cool to hang out a few days at her place, check out Vancouver and have a Canadian family dinner.
