Aix-en-Provence, France
August 15, 2001
August 14 through September 10, 2001.
I spent nearly a month living in the Novotel while working at ST Rousset. My Hotel was picked for me but was of little importance for what lay before me on this trip. My colleague and friend Matt was with me on this trip and it had been some time since we were on the road together at work. So we were pretty excited to have a chance to party together in one of the best places in the World, South France.
We spent a little time in Aix-en-Provence at some local pubs, but usually we headed into Marseille, Nice, or other areas with our new friend Calid from the hotel. We met him on the second or third night and from that moment on we were never bored again. Meanwhile at work we were having parts issues, which meant waiting for new parts to arrive from California. What to do with 5 days off.....
Many things about this trip I will always remember, but what honestly hits me most when I think about it is that I flew home to California on September 10, 2001. My friends that I had made in France were having a party on the 10th and they wanted me to stay another day so that I could attend. Had I stayed I most likely would have been stranded in France for another week, I can't think of anywhere else I would have like to have been stranded though. It really was an amazing trip for many different reasons. One of my foundest travel memories of all time.
