Cafe Charmant

Lecce Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

For 2 and a half months I lived with an Italian host family in Lecce, Italy. It was total immersion, and I had no previous Italian language skills before this. It was a lonely time, but I learned so much. Looking back, I really loved that I pushed my boundaries to learn a new language (and go to school) in a different country. One step down in my long journey of future travel...

Corner Cafe off the sidestreets of Lecce, Italy.
After wandering the streets of Lecce or eating crepes decadently smothered in Nutella in the central piazza, one may get the urge to wander the streets for a quiet place to relax and have an espresso or cappuccino. Luckily, right off the main square, a few blocks from Benniton, is Cafe Charmant. It is truly a perfect place to sit for a while with a friend and talk about the day's finds or plans for the upcoming evening. The local baristas are some of the nicest I've met in Lecce. On more than one morning occasion I would reach up to grab my cappuccino and I'd look down to see that thoughtfully written was some message like Good Morning or a smiley face in chocolate syrup in my cup. Little touches and kind people make Cafe Charmant a special find. If you want a corner treasure not far from the plaza head over to this little cafe, and I'm sure you'll love it as much as I did!
