I gotta agree manhattan is a huge area, so you can't just focus on one spot for the whole week. But considering that we gotta wait in line for 1 hour to get to the Ellis Island during a weekday, and wait in line for 1 hour to get to the top of the Empire State Building, which means that there are LOTSSSSS of tourists.
Anyway, eventhough the Nightlife wasn't that great, I kept in mind a few good spots which are worth to visit:
on MONDAY evening --> JOHNNY UTAH'S, 25W. 51st Steet (www.johnnyutahs.com)
This was one of the best bars i've ever been too. They have a special night on monday.
There's a mechanical Bullride in the middle of the place, and an entertainer tries to set the bar on fire.
There were lots of young & pretty people ;) and the athmosphere was great. The drinks cost the average like in most of
the place in manhattan. The toilets were VERY clean, and they had 2 maids who tried to keep them clean for the whole night.
I had to mention that because bathrooms in the USA, are mostly VERRRY dirty, gross, disgusting...
Johnny Utah's the place you gotta be on Monday evenings.
We turned back the next day. It was empty, only a couple of guys. On Friday it was OK, but not as crowded as on monday.
almost everyday --> on 2nd Av. from 50st to the 60st street - Lots of good and packed pubs
We went to that avenue 3 times in a row, and we had a good time over there. Most people are pretty reserved at the beginning of the
evening. But later, under the influence of alcohol, everyone gets more relaxed and talkative. Most of the bars are packed with people, not
as crowded as clubs. I prefer bars than clubs...the music isn't as loud, drinks are cheaper, and meet more "natural" people.
were mostly younger people from 21 to 45.... from business men/women to university students...and so on. Pig and Whistle the 2nd, and Murphy's Pub were our favorites..
Meat Packet Distric --> we went there on Tuesday - LOTS of bars and clubs
Actually a lot of people recommended as that place, so we expected something like a hot spot, but this wasn't the case.
Lots of "fake" and highnosed people. Some of them ignored us when we asked them for a good place... It was pretty hard to get into the
"Tenjune" club...so we tried another one across the street, but people stand in line for a long time to get in. So we checked out a few bars..
all of them were pretty empty. So I decided to have a few drinks in a rock-bar.... bad service, very unfriendly and arrogant waitress.
Lower East District - on Friday
I expected another waste of time over there...but actually it was pretty OK. We tried out the club FAT BABY. The place was ok, but pretty small, lots of people. I didn't like the guests in that club, dunno why, ... We moved on... tried out a few bars and clubs... til we found one (can't remember the name though)... Most of the places were pretty crowded with more or less cool people... We arrived at 2 a.m. and it was still packed at that time.... If i gotta turn back to NY again...I will def. check out that place one more time...
Times Square Area
Most of the pubs were pretty empty around midnight... the best ones would be the irish pubs like the one on 44th street (nice charming bar), Pig and Whistle (i think it was on 48th or 50th street), and the Angry Fiddler (dunno if it's the right name, but it has got fiddler in its name), it's around 48th-50th street between 8th and 10th avenue).... The Fiddler bar, was pretty crowded on sunday, and tried to look like a smaller club.
