Bella Tuscany

After years of research, I was finally able to trace my family history and discussed this find with my sisters. We set off to discover the land of our ancestors starting, of course, in Paris, the city of lights.

Bella Tuscany

After 2 weeks in France, we headed to the heart of Tuscany, Florence. Even though we saw spectacular views of the French Riviera, this was by far the worst train experience we had on our entire journey! Traveling from Arles to Milan took forever. 6 hours enclosed in this little compartment with 2 other people (6 in total) with one window that would slam shut whenever we entered a tunnel. We had to keep our rather large baggage in the aisle outside our cabin. Each time the guy with the snack cart came by we had to hustle to move all our bags into this tiny cabin. Fortunately our cabinmates were super nice & helped us out so much. As I said, the scenery was breathtaking & I'm glad I had a chance to see the riviera. But I would highly suggest avoiding slower trains for long distance travel.

Once we arrived in Milan, we were able to board a Eurostar train to Florence. Only 2 hours....how wonderful!

We stayed at the greatest B&B I've ever been to...The Relais Cardinal Leopoldo. The B&B is run by Gianna Squilloni and her husband who are the kindest, warmest people I think I've ever met in my life! Gianna serves a scrumptous breakfast of brioche, fresh fruit (from her farm), cakes, cheese & other local delicasies every morning on the terrace in the warm months & in the living room next to the fireplace in the colder months. She's just awesome! We felt like we were among family during our entire stay. The other guests were wonderful as well.
