vaccinations... round #1

i hate jabs, ever since i had my traumatic tetanus experience as i child - i simply hate them

today my vaccination-cycle started... i'm gonna do the following stuff:

typhoid
hepatitis a & b (twinrix)
yellow fever
dipthteria

tetanus & polio are still active...

i will NOT do rabies

have to decide what malaria stuff i take if at all... will decide later, those pills can be quite expensive

so today i had two shots, the same in one week and then once again in 3 weeks... and i already feel like crap at the moment :)

why not rabies? first of all, i'm not going to india (where probably the biggest risk is) and since i dont like dogs etc i keep the hell out of the way of them :)

if you're bitten you need post-exposure shots ANYWAY, so if you get bitten at the end of the world, you're in a bad situation - full stop. as for the shortage, that's a risk i'm taking. you can never be 100% safe anyway and i'm not advising anyone to not take it, it's just what i'm doing.

japanese enc.? no way, i'm not staying long enough in rural regions to be worth it, the risk is too small.

and don't smile when someone is putting injcetions into my arms, that hurts ;)

Why won't you do rabies? Do you know there is a world wide shortage of immune globulin and absolutely none in India? This is the post exposure shot you need if you haven't had the pre exposure vaccines. My recommendation is get your rabies shots. I'm 3/4 the way through mine and they're fine, bit of a dead arm but nothing you can't handle. I would recommend Japanese Encephalitis too... xx
