train ride machu picchu - cusco (ollantaytambo)
November 23, 2006
best train ride ever!
since walking the inca trail in reverse might be fun after arriving at machu picchu, a train ride from aguas calientes back to our bus in ollantaytambo sounded like a better idea.
we took the 'tourist train' and nobody would have expected what kind of onboard entertainment was included this time... they really don't like boring bus or train rides in south america :)
5 minutes after leaving strange electronic sounds appeared and the porter who just minutes before threw our bags in front of the door was wearing a peruvian geisha costume now and danced up and down the train.
after the initial shock / laughter the two train clerks (male / female) who checked our tickets disappeared in the loo only to reapper one at a time in different alpaca wool clothes for a catwalk while loud eurodance music came through the speakers
needless to say one could buy those clothes a few minutes later... which is supposed to be quite successful with certian nationalities of passengers
other than that the scenery of the train ride was just beautiful
