rio - climate changes....
December 29, 2006
i´m still alive, btw
everyone is getting nervous in rio as there were some 18 people killed on local buses and police stations because of a recent uproar and attacks of the big gangs... buses drive in a reduced schedule and police & army are heavily patrolling on the streets
the idea of being burned to death on a local bus in rio is not very appealing so i will take the cab a bit more often than before for the next few days, as new attacks would not be surprising... but considering the number of bus passengers each day the realistic chances to get hit are quite small
actually i almost drowned yesterday swimming in ipanema beach... red flags everywhere because of huge waves, but of course we could not resist and it was a good learning experience hehe
i made it back in one piece and with a lot of swallowed salt water
its cloudy and sometimes rainy at the moment so i hope that other than not being blown up on new years eve that the weather will be nicer.... i got my reveillon outfit together now and cant wait for the big party
so, life goes on!
went to bombar club yesterday in leblon, not too far from here... was great, felt like going out in london again, but cheap! free beer & caipirinhas until 1 am but unfortunately a lot of 'professional girls' but we had fun, even though only the male population of the hostel could be convinced to go there
