already my last full day in hong kong today! i could move my flight at last... funny story: i called cathay pacific hong kong to move my flight and they told me that it would cost me 300hkd. so i called the australian office again and they moved it for free... hehe surfer dudes once again not up to date with the policies of the rest of the world

so the title already spoils the great surprise of what i did today: i went to macau! why did i do that?

because of the great sights there? no
because of the scenic ferry ride? no
because of the portuguese colonial stuff? no
because of the fusion cuisine? no

the main reason was... because i am a bloody passport stamp whore

if i can get a day trip to another country, hell i am gonna do that

hong kong & macau stamps fill over 1 passport page now hehe

but macau is actually quite nice... it was really foggy today so you could not see that much on the ferry ride, but macau is an interesting mix between las vegas (they have all the casinos there), hong kong (those huge run down residential blocks) and portuguese colonial stuff (everything christian). street names are in portuguese, even the ferry announcements were! 20 degrees more and i would have felt like in brazil again hehe

it's a nice day trip from hong kong but not a must visit place... besides, it is filled with tourists (asian and western alike) plus the casino junkies. i could not be bothered to stay until the evening but i guess it gets quite flashy then.
