it's hot

and i got sunburned... really bad even. it is very embarrassing, after 7 months this should not happen any more. to my excuse it didn't take long and i'm sweating sunscreen out faster than i can apply it in this heat :-)

anyway, so i'm walking around with a bright red head at the moment and i don't think this will get much better while tomb raiding (a movie geek joke harhar) in angkor wat.

so i got one day in phnom penh and i decided to spend it with a visit to the killing fields and a small city stroll. first i took a crazy moto ride to the killing fields, 15k out of town. at least the moto driver had a helmet... FOR HIMSELF. my life passed in my mind while i was sitting with closed eyes on a moto with nothing to hold on to while being part in crazy take over maneuvers.

on those fields thousands of cambodians were killed as part of the genocide by the khmer rouge and the site feels really awkward. right next to it is a school with kids laughing and playing and in the middle is a huge monument filled up with bones; quite macabre.

the afternoon i've spent getting my face burned and walking along the river & the palace without actually entering anything. it was just to damn hot and i want to save up touristy energy for angkor wat as for once in my life i want to spend more than 1h at a tourist sight and still like it :-)

tomorrow i'm going to siam reap and i'm not sure about angkor yet... it's supposed to be the most impressive complex of temples & sights in the world yet i doubt that i won't be bored after the first day. so i'm still deciding if i should even buy a 3 day pass or just stick with a one day pass. as always, what lonely planet plans in a week long itinerary i usually run through in one day heheh i am so bloody japanese
