homestay on lake titicaca
November 28, 2006
november 27/28 we had the chance to visit the impressive lake titicaca (huge!) on a boat trip with a homestay with a community that lives on one of the bigger islands on the lake
although everything is (too) touristically exploited it was very interesting to see how people live cut off from the main land on those islands... as tourists are regularely staying with them and bring them gifts (e.g. pasta, games for the kids, etc) and the get some money for the hosting the constantly improve their standard of living
the host families kids were adorable and we had some fun recording their voices and playing them back to them - a new experience for them

the scenery on the lake itself was breathtaking and the view from the island very nice... almost sea-like quality
and we, the gringos, have won the football game... but damn we were out of breath... running over 3000m is not fun!
