finally some days rest in a more or less developed city :) i love just sitting in the cafes, reading a book or working on the pictures and enjoy the world go by (which consists mainly of tuktuk drivers and thai-tourist-pants wearing dreadlock losers) :)

weather is nice here... every day it rains for about 2 hours. in thailand it was always in the evenings, now it's in the morning. keeps everything cool and saves me some accommodation costs since i won't need a/c rooms

changed my guesthouse this morning, i am now in the levady guesthouse which is smack in the middle of the mainstreet in a small soi. looks a bit cleaner than the old one, i got a usable window and pay 7usd instead of 5.

enjoy the free wireless in some of the cafes here in town so i can finally catch up with flickr and my blog and do some research for my onward journey

i will travel down to vang vieng and vientiane and then probably fly to hanoi. i would have loved to be in hanoi for my birthday but i will probably still hang around laos - but i'm not too fussed about that. as long as i don't have a 10h bus journey on that day but can just relax somewhere i'm fine :)

i relax too much though... haven't done a touristy thing yet :) tomorrow i'm gonna check if the vietnam consulate in town really does 1day turnover visas for 40usd and if they are open on may 1. if not i'll head down south the day after.
