so we decided to give up on palawan as the weather was just too bad (especially after the scary encounter on snake island) and we could not be bothered to move around the island. cebu pacific operates a domestic flight directly from puerto princesa to cebu, the gateway to the visayas group of islands and popular because of direct flights from north east asia and all the asian hubs.

a bit happy to finally leave the unfortunate island experience we went to the cebu pacific office in pp early in the morning - as you cannot online book on the same day - and after some long minutes of waiting we could book the tickets for the 1200 flight. quickly packed up and went to the airport.

check-in without problems, seating area a bit rough but not too bad and with a nice view on the airfield, plus a small snack counter. time to wait

and waited

and waited

'flight delayed due to technical problems'

and waited

and waited

'flight delayed, will serve lunch soon, please remain seated'

one hour later, huge boxes of jollybee (the local mcdonalds chain) food were brought in, and of course, it was a bloody chicken! chona happily ate two portions (she will kill me for writing this...) and i was fighting my way out of the airport to get some edible food at the cantinas around it, which were sub-china standard so i kept me from starving with some crisps.

and waited

at about 3pm there were some rumors floating about a technician being flown in from cebu at the moment. actually he arrived at 5:20 from manila as we found out later while being served a second round of jollybee food (burger this time, yeah!) and, a free flight voucher! that was nice, even boracay seems possible now on my mini phils tour :)

hopped quickly to dunkin donuts to stock up on muffins & donuts for the possible remaining waiting time but arrived back just in time to board the plane, finally!

arrived safely in cebu, which looks similar to manila but with even more (south-)american flair and after a bit of looking around stranded in the westpoint inn in uptown cebu - a bit jealous reading the brochures of shangri-la and co dominating the nice beaches around cebu.
