This was my university graduation present to myself, travelled from Mexico City south throughout a good chunk of southern Mexico, into Belize and Guatemala.

New Year's in Puebla, Mexico and House Parties with the Locals

Well we arrived in Puebla yesterday (Dec 31) around 1pm, wandered around downtown in the zocalo, hopped on a double decker tour bus, we were on the open top, and saw all the sites around Puebla. Puebla is a old Spanish colonial town, notorious for its cathedrals, churches and convents (224 in total). It is a beautiful city, much more than Mexico City, however it is on the opposite end of the party spectrum as we witnessed last nite on new years.

New Years was lame, lol, we ended up taking a cab to a place 20 minutes outside Puebla called Cholula, which is normally a hopping bar city, however once arriving there the town was dead, it felt like a ghost town in a wild west movie...it also helped that our cabby spoke zero english, so we were trying to figure out what the hell to do. We decided to not be dropped off 20 minutes outside where our hotel was in some random city, so we took the same cabby back into town (he probably hated us). So our cab ride ended up being 55 minutes long, in Regina that woulda probably cost $150, here it was $30Cdn,

so we weren´t that choked, other than the fact it was 10:30 and we had only drank 1 beer each (in our hotel). So we headed to our hotel asked the guy at the front desk where a close bar would be...his response "No bars open tonite, it is holiday". Christ so they close the bars for the holiday that is meant for drinking, these bar owners must not like money, anyway, we ended up walking around the half full zocalo, bought a case of beer from the convenience store and 2 cuban cigars...our new years consisted of sitting on the top of our hotel roof (it does have an amazing view of the city), drank 3 beers and had 1 cuban. In bed at 12:25....GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! Ah well, i ain´t gonna complain too much, Puebla is nice, we are going to bigger party places and most of my friends and family are stuck in minus temperatures...oh ya and i have no school or work for a month...so life ain´t bad.

January 1st was awesome, we chilled most of the day, walked around a bit, that kind of thing, but at night we partied at a club about 2 blocks

from our hotel, in an upstairs of a restraunt, extremely shady, and we were the only tourists in there, it was packed, and i mean packed, couldn't move, and they made room for a table for us, in a primo spot. Partied it up with the locals, did some dancing, talking to people in Spanish. Dylan headed back to the hotel at about 1:30, i kept trucking for a bit, lol, and these Mexican people asked me if i wanted to come to a house party. So i did. We caught a cab, stopped at the convenience store to pick up some booze and cigars, and headed to this chicks condo, was pretty crazy, chilled with my Puebla friends till about 4:30 am, butchering the Spanish language, lol, then headed home, morning came early.

Off to Oaxaca, where the temperature will increase to about 30C.

Huge Ceilings, Gold, and Spanish style architecture, really amazing, so much better than in person than on the photo.
