This was my university graduation present to myself, travelled from Mexico City south throughout a good chunk of southern Mexico, into Belize and Guatemala.

Back to Mexico City - Mexico City, DF

Well so far so good... no stolen wallets, loose bowel movements, or kidnapped Rob/Dylan. Our journey began in snowy and cold Regina, SK...we caught a ride with Dylans cousins to Calgary to head to Mexico City.

We arrived in Mexico City in the late afternoon on the 28th, and were picked up by our excellent temporary host and amiga Iza, we relaxed that night and had some brewskies with her dad. He is awesome and cooked lots of good and spicy, oh hell was it spicy, food for us, he also gave us 2 big bottles of tequila. One notorious mexican bottle and very expensive one for us to take back to Canada ($100 bottle range). Let it me known that next party i have we will be cheering our tequila shots to Jose (Iza´s dad).

We got up on the 29th around 9am and had some breakfast...mexicans really don´t know that spicy = crazy for breakfast...aka would you like hot sauce with that on everything!!! We enjoyed it though, as Iza´s dad is an excellent cook, and man the hand squeezed mandarin juice is awesome...after eating we headed to Teotihuacan, which is a massive Aztec ruin site.

Here we are outside Mexico City at Iza´s estate...in a area called Topotzatlan, it still has cobblestone roads from the Spanish Conquistadors, from the 1600´s.

The 30th was just as good as the previous day as we at breakfast outside in the 20 plus weather in Iza´s estate/garden. We headed to the Zocalo (city square), where there is mass markets (and i mean 15 blocks by 15 blocks), shoulder to shoulder ppl, it is nuts...and impossible to explain, you just gotta see it. Went to the Cathedral in the town square and got to climb to the top of the oldest belltower in the Americas, the view of the square was awesome and got lots of pics (see pics again). At night we went out with a bunch of Iza´s friends (especially 2 crazy dudes named Carlos and Cortes), these guys are frickin sweet, anyway we went to an old fashioned mexican lounge to watch the mariacchis play their violins, trumpets and sing, pretty coo...next up was a niteclub called Hooka, where you can smoke fruit, yes

Teotihuacan

fruit, and it is actually healthy for you, go figure...so me and dylan smoked apple and some other weird fruit, lol...had a few brews, headed that night to our hostel, which for 35 bones a night wasnt too shabby.

Next morning we were off to Puebla on the bus (31st), and i will update this section once we are done in Puebla, cuz we are there now, and i will let you know in a couple days...

Couple crazy things so far have happened... frickin hilarious anyway..

1) Standing in bus line behind a nun, Dylan drops an F bomb on me, and we stand their giggling like little girls.

2) All traffic in general, i never thought a city could be planned more poorly than Mexico City...i mean ya there are a lot of ppl, but how the hell does it take 2 hours to go 50 km. I was stressed just watching Iza drive, she has patience, lol.

3) On our way to the Zocalo our cabby laid some rubber slamming on the brakes due to the 3 year old that ran out in the middle of one of the market streets, i thought i was gonna have to be a witness to a dead child, gulp, seriously about 6 inches from hammering the kid, and this was going at about 35-40km/h.

4) My pet peeve of this portion of the trip was the stupid people that get paid to stand around the Zocalo to wind music boxes, one they are frickin loud, two they are annoying as all hell, and third no i ain´t giving u a tip to wind a music box, i´ll give you a tip to shut up, christ.

All in all, 35 million ppl in 1 city just isn´t viable, Mexico City is very poor and dangerous, however the majority of the ppl are great, and we had the best hosts i have ever had, great ppl = great time. Talk to yáll in a bit.
