Went to Mexico City and Acapulco to visit a friend in November, 2007. Read my blog for more.

Mexico City (DF) & Acapulco, Mexico

Well I headed down to Mexico for my first time, to visit a couple of friends, mainly Iza and Victor, and had a helluva time. Started out in chilly Regina, made my way to Toronto and onto Mexico City. I was greeted at the airport by Iza and headed to her and Victor's University, as she had to hand in an assignment. Her university is a nun's convent from the time of the conquistadors, so it was very old, but well kept and very beautiful, not like a university you could find in Canada. After that we headed to her friend's place, and partied (see pics), throwing back cheap booze like no tomorrow...yet there was a tomorrow and did i feel like garbage when it arrived.

The next day we went to the National Anthropology Museum in Mexico City, which is supposed to be one of the best in the world for artificats, the main being Aztec and Mayan. There was lots to see there and we spent about half a day there, and could've spent longer. We also saw these crazy flying dude's outside the museum, supposedly an ancient Peruvian tradition, however it has been going on in Mexico for awhile now. Later that day went to Iza's home had an excellent cooked meal by her mom, and that night left for Acapulco.

Arrived in Acapulco at about 2AM, after a 5 hour long bus ride from Mexico City. And found the Mayan Palace at night was absolutely stunning. And the temperature went from 15C in Mexico City to about 30C at night with 90% humidity in Acapulco, like breathing through a straw.

Woke up the next day, and went and checked out the Forte de San Diego, an old Spanish base, used to protect the harbour from invaders and pirates. Was cool, i recommend it, also has a great view of the harbour. Later that day went and checked out a small market downtown, with people trying to heckle my money for a bunch of junk, haha, well i did buy a couple of shirts and some shot glasses. That night went to the world famous Palladium Nightclub, known for its amazing location (side of a mountain), and its even more amazing view (the whole one side is glass), and it overlooks the Acapulco downtown and harbour.

Next day went downtown and checked out Acapulco's

Zocalo (town square), wandered around, came back to the Mayan Palace in the late afternoon, layed on the beach and in the pool, and relaxed, headed to Mandara, a club owned by the same owner from Palladium, again the huge amazing view of Acapulco in a smaller environment.

Next day we relaxed at the Mayan Palace, and headed off the next day back to Mexico City.

Got back to Mexico City, and made our way to Iza's summer house, or more like estate, it was huge (see pics), and had fun talking to her family and seeing the area of Tapozatlan (spelling?), stayed overnight there and headed back for Canada the next day.
