The Land of Venice

We joined our tour in Rome on the 20th of March and drove to Venice. On the way Mike fell in love (again) with the Ferrari museum! He just couldn't get enough of it and I literally had to drag him to the bus. On arriving in Venice we enjoyed more Italian food and wine.
The following day we took a water taxi into the centre of Venice. It was an amazing city with reflections flickering everywhere you looked! Our tour guide organised a glass blowing demonstration for us and we loved watching Mario work his magic with the Venetian glass. We were very tempted to buy some. Especially once we were shown that it could not break, even when Mario smacked it against the counter (much to our astonishment!!!). Following the demonstration we went for a group gondala ride (a ride for a couple is 150 NZ dollars at the cheapest so we went in a gondala with another two couples that we had buddied up with). It was everything we had expected, cruising through the canals, taking in all the small streets that people on foot or car couldn't see. We enjoyed looking in the tiny churches and believe it or not this is one city that you actually enjoy getting lost in!
We are really enjoying our tour and have made some great friends. It has also been 1 month since hearing a kiwi accent so we are really enjoying that too!
