From sandpit to snowy mountains
Next day the weather had improved a bit (aka sunny but now a bit less windy). As we took off from Almeria and drove towards the palace Alhambra in Granada the landscape changed drastically... from a sandpit with few trees and green up into the mountains where the trees started and everything was green and the snow covering the ground with a thin layer..
At Alhambra it was only 5C and I think the decision not to wear shorts and flip flops was a brilliant one as we were freezing with plenty of clothes on. Unfortunately the palace tickets had sold out but we could still get into the gardens and everything else. And as it turned out the gardens were absolutely amazing. A bit strange though to be able to see both snow covered mountains and orange trees so close together.
On the way back to Almeria we stopped at a little village as on our (touristy) map there was an indication of ruins and a castle. So we drove into the village and followed the signs showing a ruin. But after cruizing behind a man on a scooter dragging two horses (one tied to the tail of the other... ouch!) for 10 mins the signs just ended in nowhere and people were staring at us in a slightly disturbing way. We decided to name the village "Mug-me-ville" and hurried to get out of there as we didn't dare stop the car anywhere.. quite an experience ;)
